Advanced Composites Inc. values our partnerships in the composites industry.
At Advanced Composites Inc., we recognize that we have partnerships of networks and resources and relationships that allow us to thrive. Our success in filament winding, composites manufacturing, engineering and prototyping of composite structures are empowered by composites industry colleagues, resources and connections. A few of these organizations are listed below. By no means is this list comprehensive.
Composites industry organizations.
UAMMI (Utah Advanced Materials Manufacturing Initiative)
The Utah Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Initiative (UAMMI) is a federal and state funded initiative to bring together public, private, community, industry and education partners to assure growth and sustainability of Utah’s advanced material and manufacturing industry. Randy Philpot, President of Advanced Composites Inc. is the Board Chair of UAMMI, the connecting point for Utah’s advanced materials and manufacturing industry. The mission of UAMMI is to ensure that Utah is the global leader in value-added advanced materials, manufacturing, technology development, and design by integrating industry, academic and government contributors in ways that enhance collaboration, promote business opportunities, share knowledge resulting from relevant research and engage a skilled and trained workforce.
SAMPE (The Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering).
The Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering, an international professional member society, provides information on new partnerships and materials and processing technologies through chapter technical presentations, two journal publications, symposia and commercial expositions in which professionals can exchange ideas. As the only technical society encompassing all fields of endeavor in materials and processes, SAMPE offers a unique and valuable forum for scientists, engineers, designers and academics. The engineers and researchers at Advanced Composites Inc. have published and presented several papers through SAMPE forums.
Utah SAMPE.
The Utah chapter of SAMPE is active in promoting conferences, education and industry events related to the Utah materials industry. Events such as the Annual Wasatch Front Materials Expo, now in its tenth year, empower industry leaders, manufacturers and innovators to learn from one another and network. Advanced Composites Inc. is a member of the Utah SAMPE chapter and has a composites manufacturing display booth in the Expo.
JEC Composites.
JEC is dedicated to promoting the research, manufacturing and development of composite materials on an international scale. The organization facilitates knowledge transfer and information sharing between manufacturers, suppliers and users of composites. To date, the JEC network connects more than 250,000 professionals from 96 countries.
CompositesWorld.
CompositesWorld provides composites industry news, a glossary of composites-related terms, and an excellent guide to composites manufacturing.
Nastran Finite Element Analysis.
Advanced Composites Inc. uses NEi Nastran and NEi Composites for complete composites material analysis. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software tools bring enhanced design opportunities, the ability to structurally optimize composite structures, and the opportunity to develop lighter, more cost-effective and stronger composite products for tomorrow’s marketplace. Prior to filament winding or molding an incipient composite structure, the software allows Advanced Composites Inc. engineers to detect and correct potential weaknesses. This allows Advanced Composites Inc. to keep manufacturing costs down by significantly reducing the need for multiple successive prototypes of a composite product.
Autodesk (formerly CompositePro/FireHole).
Autodesk offers design and analysis tools that are easy to use and rich in features and are an important player in our partnerships. The Autodesk tools calculate with industry-accepted methods and algorithms, and work with English as well as SI units.
